Origin

The islands of Macaronesia have a biogeography that is unique in the world, shaped by their volcanic origin and a climate tempered by the trade winds. It is a land where life is lived hand in hand with the environment; a symbiotic relationship that the inhabitants of the islands have maintained throughout the centuries and that is reflected in our name: Tabona.

This word, inherited from the Canarian aborigines, was used to refer both to volcanic rock and to the tool carved from it. A duality that perfectly defines our rum: the purity of nature transformed by human craftsmanship.

Sugarcane

The sugarcane we select is grown in this exceptional environment. Cultivated in rich volcanic soil and exposed to Atlantic breezes, it absorbs the pure essence of the islands.

This raw material imparts a minerality and green freshness impossible to find in sugarcane grown on the mainland. It is this natural character of the land that defines the soul and flavour of the cane juice before it even enters our warehouses.

Rum

Our rums are made exclusively from sugarcane juice sourced from the Macaronesian islands. For this, we work closely with local distillers on the islands to select the distillates that best reflect the character of our land.

Once chosen, we bring the rums to our warehouses, where they age in American oak barrels.

The result is a natural, light, and honest rum. A unique, handcrafted rum, provided by nature.
